About Clash of Clans

Don't have Clash of Clans?

Genre: Strategy | Publisher: Supercell | Platform: Mobile
Clash of Clans is an online strategy game available for iOS and Android devices. In Clash of Clans, you train fantasy fighters like goblins, archers, barbarians, and dragons to attack the bases of other characters for loot while protecting your own bases.

Clash of Clans is developed by Supercell, a Finnish games developer which has also developed the popular mobile games Hay Day and Boom Beach. If you enjoy these games, or like strategy games with a strong player versus player element, you will enjoy Clash of Clans.

Clash of Clans Basics

In Clash of Clans, you control a village. Using materials like gold, elixir, and Dark Elixir, you can raise troops of soldiers to raid other villages for their materials, and build fortifications and structures to protect your own village from attack. There are multiple tiers of units, ranging from cheap fighters like Goblins to high-level, expensive units like Valkyries.

After building a Clan Castle structure, you can join a clan, an online gathering of affiliated players who can offer everything from material help to gaming advice. Clans can go to war against each other, with victorious players earning stars when crushing players from other clans. At the end of the war, the side with the most stars earns prestige and extra loot

Core Challenges

Clash of Clans has a lot of depth to it, and can sometimes seem intimidating for new players. But with these Clash of Clans tips and tricks, you’ll be snatching Dark Elixir in no time.

Clash of Clans Tip 1 – Keep an Eye on Town Hall Levels: One aspect of the game often missed by new players is that attacking a player with a lower level than you gives you a loot penalty. This means that if you beat a weaker player, you’ll only receive a fixed percentage of the loot you might have earned. This is meant to discourage stronger players from steamrolling newbies. On the flip side, this also means new, low-level players have much less to lose. When you’re starting out, your low-level status is as much a shield itself as the actual shield!

Clash of Clans Tip 2 – Gems: Besides gold, elixir, and Dark Elixir, Clash of Clans uses another in-game currency: gems. Gems cannot be stolen from other players, and are awarded for reaching certain milestones in the game, completing achievements, and can also be awarded randomly. You can also get them through in-app purchases. Gems can be used to earn more materials, speed up training, and improve your overall game.

Clash of Clans Tip 3Join a Clan ASAP: The only requirement for joining a clan is to build a Clan Castle, which you can do without too much hassle early on. Once you join a clan, you can receive help from other players and participate in rewarding clan wars. Plus, it’s fun! Why play a game with “clan” in the title and never join one?

What We Love About It

As its hyper-popularity attests, there’s a lot to enjoy about Clash of Clans. Here are three things we love most about it.

The Strategy: At its core, Clash of Clans is a strategy game. There’s really something about coming up with the most secure base layout and figuring out exactly which units will poke holes in an enemy’s defenses. Plus, the penalty for attacking lower-level players means that it’s rare for a random player at a much higher level than you will come along and ruin your day.

The Single-Player Campaign: Though the primary focus is against other players, Clash of Clans also offers a single-player campaign where you maraud your way through a series of goblin fortifications. A lot of player-versus-player games lack any sort of single-player aspect, so this is a nice touch that helps the game stand out above the pack.

The Clans: It’s quick and easy to join a clan, and once you do, fast and fun clan warfare is just a step away. It’s fun to do battle on behalf of your clan, and you can receive material help and sage advice from more experienced players as well.

Top User Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) About Clash of Clans

Can You Earn Clash of Clans Gems In-Game?
Of course! Gems can be earned by completing in-game achievements, from reaching certain milestones, and you may also randomly be rewarded them during play. However, purchasing them is still the most efficient method of obtaining them.

Is My Village Under Attack in a Clan War?
No, clan wars take place in the “war zone,” a neutral ground where neither clan’s villages appear. Your village will never be at risk during a clan war.

How do Heroes Work?
Heroes, the Barbarian King and the Archer Queen, are the most powerful units in Clash of Clans. You may have only one of each and they are summoned by building their Altar using Dark Elixir. They are immortal and cannot be destroyed, but must sleep off damage they sustain after battle, making them go inactive from time to time.
