About Five Nights at Freddy's

Don't have Five Nights at Freddy's?

Genre: Scary | Publisher: - | Platform: PC
Five Nights At Freddy's is a unique point and click survival horror game that relies purely on its atmosphere and narrative to scare the player. And, while there is only implied violence and death, but parental guidance is advised. Scott Cawthon developed it after his earlier mobile games were criticized for unnerving animations. Since its release in August 2014, it has spawned two sequels with a 4th installment scheduled for release on Halloween 2015. It is available via Steam for Windows and for Android and iOS.

Core Challenges Of Five Nights At Freddy's

Five Nights At Freddy's has very few mechanics but is merciless, with the animatronics being more aggressive in mobile versions of the game. To win, mastering the game’s mechanics is crucial.

In Five Nights At Freddy's you have limited power to work with, which you need for closing doors in the game. You must resist the urge to check the camera. Point it at pirate's cove to keep an eye on foxy but other than that just flash the lights on either side to conserve power. An easy way to get into a good cycle is to do breathing exercises while playing. It keeps you calm and helps you measure out the time appropriately.

This animatronic acts sporadically; if you don't pay enough attention to him he'll come running to your office at a horrifying speed. By the time you see him running down the hall, it will be too late. When you see the sign outside change, immediately close the door, don't try and find him on the camera. Every time he bangs your door he will steal some of your battery so be sure to open it as soon as he's gone.

On most of the first nights the animatronics don't move till 2 am. Chica will usually sneak up on your right, but she's very noisy in the kitchen beforehand. Bonnie, Freddy, and Foxy all come on the left. Freddy hums before he gets there. Bonnie likes to stare and twitch at cameras. When Foxy attacks the other animatronics generally aren't near your room. When the door is closed use the light to check if the animatronic is still there. If they are nearby their shadow will be cast on the wall.

What We Like About Five Night's At Freddy's

There is a lot to like about Five Nights at Freddy's, which you can see from its huge fan base, but here are my three favorites:

Unique Gameplay
Five Nights At Freddy's strips the survival horror genre back to basics. You are trapped in a room just waiting to be attacked. The helplessness is what fuels the fear in this game. You want to look around or attack, but you have no means of fight or flight here. The monsters are adorable children's entertainers and yet we're terrified.

The Storytelling
The game has a tremendous plot, but takes 'show don't tell' to entirely new levels. Discovering the story takes thorough detective work, examining newspaper clippings and changing pictures and working things out

Easy To Understand
With so few mechanics and intuitive controls you can hand this game to anyone and expect them to be able to play well enough. It's so deceptively simple, but games like Minecraft and Sims have proven that simplicity is key to success.

The Story And Gameplay Of Five Night's At Freddy's

In the Five Nights At Freddy's game, you take the job as a night guard at a local pizzeria to keep an eye on the animatronics. The pizzeria is due to shut down after some grizzly murders of young children took place on the premises. The animatronics are a little quirky at night and it’s assumed that the spirits of the dead children inhabits them. You just have to keep them out of your office till 6 am when you can go home. If you are caught you will be shoved into an animatronic suit and die due to the internal wiring. You can look through cameras and shut doors, but other than that you're helpless.

Frequently Asked Question About Five Nights At Freddy's

How Long Is A Night?
One night in Five Nights At Freddy's is approximately 6 minutes. This can shorten as the days continue to progress, but only marginally.

How Do I Encounter Golden Freddy?
Golden Freddy is a mysterious hallucination that will throw you out of the game. Watch camera 2B and pay attention to the poster on the wall. The poster changes a lot, but when a picture of Golden Freddy appears put your camera down and he should materialize in the office (it doesn't matter if the doors are closed).

Are There Any Mini-games In Five Nights At Freddy's 1?
No, these only appear in the second and third installments (We don't know if they will be in the fourth yet).
