There are three standard bets in NHL games. The first type and most common in hockey betting is the moneyline. This is where you bet on which team will win regardless of the score. The second standard NHL bet is the total. This is when the book sets a number to try and predict the combined final score and the bettor either bets under or over that number. The third NHL bet type is the puck line, which works much like spread betting in other sports. However, the puck line is always 1.5 goals. This means the favorite must win by at least 2 goals and the underdog has to lose by less than 2 goals for the side to cash. You can also parlay multiple bet types together on a single ticket which increases your potential winnings, but all parts or “legs” of the parlay must occur for the parlay to cash.
